AFC will focus primarily on project finance and play an active role across the full value chain including origination, structuring, syndicating and managing. It will seed bankable projects and take responsibility for organizing the capital to fully fund such projects. AFC’s private equity business will focus on developing projects through an infrastructure, mining and energy fund platform.

AFC will work to satisfy Africa’s need for a long-term debt market by placement of its funds, syndication with other banks, as well as bond placements. It will also build additional services around its core project finance focus to include structured finance, investment banking and asset management. .

The AFC is launching an international asset management business to provide African capacity to manage the reserves of the central banks of African countries in the first instance.
