Innovative
We are a solutions provider, not just a financier. In today’s emerging post-COVID reality, this enables us to adapt and navigate increasing complexity.
Our solutions-driven culture is built on innovation and agility, applied through our holistic approach to developing projects from conception to close.
We were first to offer cornerstone project preparation, development and finance, as well as a range of relevant advisory services to de-risk projects.
We have cemented a proven track record in de-risking and distributing capital to deliver well-structured and bankable infrastructure projects.

Purpose-driven
Truly pan-African, we work to accelerate impact and turn investments into prosperity by constructing a leading-class portfolio of high yield assets, often taking an early equity financier role.
33 member countries tap into our investment capacity. To date we have invested US$9.9 billion in 35 countries across Africa in key sectors including Power, Transport, Telecoms, Heavy Industries and Natural Resources

Collaborative
We work closely with project sponsors (in the public and private sector) to intervene early and to serve as an incubator for projects, preparing them to meet the tests of financiers early on and make them bankable.
As a result, we offer a proprietary, diverse pipeline of multiple high-quality, high-impact projects, leveraging our privileged position and preferred creditor status in member countries to bring along risk averse partners.
We often offer first sight on investment opportunities too, partnering with investors to bring complex deals to close with world-class programme delivery.
These responsive relationships enable us to offer flexible financial instruments, as well as to help pool resources and diversify investment portfolios.

Entrepreneurial
Our entrepreneurial mindset is underlined by our concept-to-execution view of projects. We always aim to participate through the entire project life cycle, from concept design to construction to operations.
We are renowned for this entrepreneurial commercial approach, which we combine with development impact, local knowledge, global expertise and understanding of our markets.
We add value through proactive participation across the whole infrastructure value chain, leveraging our three complementary service areas – project development, principal investing and financial advisory – to find solutions to market challenges, whatever it takes.

Exponential
While never excluding opportunistic projects, we prefer to engage with an ecosystem investment philosophy – a holistic approach where we seek to invest in every step of the value chain of a project.
In this way we can actively target exponential results through beneficiation, promotion of industrialisation, and by helping to integrate economies and communities better, while still delivering attractively large ticket sized projects for investors.
